Under the supervision of the line manager, and the overali management of the FSL Program Manager, The Food
Security and Livelihoods (FSL) Officer_Livestock wil play a critical role in implementing and supporting food
security a n d livelihoods projects in Northeast Syria. The officer will work closely with the community members, local
partners, and relevant stakeholders to identify needs, design interventions, and ensure effective project
implementation. This role aims to enhance the food security, income generation, financial inclusion, and overall
livelihoods of vulnerable communities in the region.
List of main tasks:

Under the supervision of their line manager and in collaboration with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning
and Accountability (MEAL) team, take part in the identification of villages and stakeholder mapping
w h e r e work is to b e c a r r i e d out.
• Conduct assessments, surveys and focus groups discussions to identify food security and livelihoods
needs and priorities of target communities.
• Communicate with the community as per the strategy defined by the management and make sure that
the projects and the selection criteria are well understood and accepted by the communities.
• Identify relevant stakeholders, community leaders, activists in target areas, and ensure their active
participation.
• Facilitate community mobilization and organization to ensure community participation at all stage of
p r o j e c t cycle.

• Report any relevant additional information collected or observed in the field that could be of relevance
for the decision making and the implementation of the activities.
• Participate to analysis of the local environment and understand needs, requests, technical or contextual
limitations that might have an impact on the field operations.
• Ensure that activities under his/her responsibility are followed up.
• Participate in consultancy missions.
IMPLEMENTATION AND OPERATIONAL FOLLOW-UP.
Under instruction of t h e line Manager
• Carries out the activities as defined in weekly meetings with the line management, and as per the work
p l a n c o m m u n i c a t e d .
• Ensures that the implementation of cross cutting themes (gender and protection mainstreaming, conflict
sensitivity and environmental sustainability) is integrated into economic recovery activities.
• Support the preparation of 80Qs, Purchase Link (PL) when requested.
• Ensure accurate follow-up and monitoring of the activities in the field, using the Sl's standards and tools
and provide technical support to beneficiaries, if needed.
• Adhere to Si's standard operational procedures.
• Anticipate difficulties in the carrying out of the activities, propose adjustments according to the field
understanding and the possible feedback from the community.
• Provide technical support to beneficiaries in the areas of interest (agriculture, income generation, value
chain development, financial inclusion, etc...).
• Coordinate the implementation with relevant partners and stakeholders.
• Communicate with anticipation to the line Manager on needs that engage the support department.
• Ensure positive relationship and good communication practices with different support departments.
• Ensure the data collected and reports are safely archived/handed to the Line Manager.
• Establish safety and security measures for each activity and ensure that these rules are respected by
workforce under his/her supervision and by beneficiaries
REPORTING / COMMUNICATION:
• Keep monitoring tools and file archived at the Solidarités international office.
• Provide weekly and monthly reports on the challenges faced, lessons learned and progress made
• Report to Supervisor on the progress of activities and specific tasks assigned, problem encountered, the
quality of relations with beneficiaries
• Analyse the humanitarian situation, taking protection problems into consideration/Do no Harm to the
population.
• C o l l a b o r a t e with local administration a n d authorities.

The FSL Officer is part of a program aiming at supporting the agricultural sector, including livestock support,
breeders and farmers, encompassing the delivery of livestock inputs, technical trainings and the development of
cooperative activities such as breeders' group.
In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, the FSL officer is expected to:
• Assist in developing Livestock Strategies, methodologies and identification of new approaches for
improving livestock.
• Participates in the development and formulation of good animal husbandry practices that relate to the
utilisation of feed resources, efficient animal nutrition and feed safety.
• He/she will take part in the joint health and breed inspections and support the development of livestock
r e l a t e d distribution activities.
• Monitor the vaccination and anthelminthic treatment of distributed animals.
Support in market assessments and conduct continuous market monitoring during the dry season.
• Initiate breeders' groups and/or breeders/farmers field schools and demonstration plots.
• Facilitate and participate in designing of animal husbandry curricula, training manuals and extension
methodologies and modalities, and the provision of training to identified breeders' group.
Ensure smooth communication with relevant technical departments during the implementation of
livestock related activities, as well as support in identification of p a r a - v e t s / b a s i c veterinary workers in the
community.

Support the supervisor in the identification of community poultry farms beneficiaries.
• Ensure the distribution of community poultry farms to identified beneficiaries and provide technical

distributions and the quantities of goods distributed.
• Build the capacity of target beneficiaries to develop Good Livestock Practices and high yield.
• Plan and organise trainings and orientation activities on Livestock Management.
• Facilitate the development of commercial linkages between breeders, buyers, processors and other value
c h a i n actors.
• Manage the distribution of livestock inputs in the selected villages.
PROFILE FORSAKEN
• Studies: A university degree in Veterinary or agriculture or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: Solid experience in livestock management practices, designing and implementing technical training,
local agricultural system, nutrition support and disease control program.
• Language: A B2 level of English proficiency is preferred.
• IT: Solid experience in Microsoft office (Excel. Worrd....).
Qualification: Able to express himself/herself clearly, listen actively and negotiate. Time management and
organization. Flexibility and adaptability.
