Under the line management of the Land Release Project Manager, the Paramedic is part of Land Release conducing Mine Action activities in the working areas assigned to the Humanity & Inclusion The Paramedic component of the project involves the location, removal and destruction of Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), marking Suspected and Confirmed Hazardous Areas (SHA/CHA) and delivering emergency Risk Education (RE) safety briefings to persons at risk on the dangers of ERW and IEDs who are living, traveling or working close to the hazardous areas. The Medic is tasked to assist the project by provides medical support, casualty treatment and transportation mean in case of accident/incident. Medical support is a key service, which must be in place at all, times while conducting mine action operations.

 

  1. Mission 1: Participate in and conduct medical training in accordance with HI SOPs.

  • Participate actively in CASEVAC drills to demonstrate your abilities to manage with emergencies in respect of the procedures.
  • Promote preventive measures to prevent the contraction of any disease or illness and a high standard of personal and accommodation hygiene to the team.
  • Provide advice and assistance on the hauling of plant from base area to the work site. Short distances to be covered by self-drive and long distances on lowbed hauler.
  • Provide support to Logistics Department during the processes of obtaining petrol, oil & lubricants (POL), service kits as well as spare parts of the plant.
  • Personally, oversee all scheduled services, preventative maintenance and replacement of parts.

            

  1. Mission 2: Ensure the good preparation, use and maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Maintenance and care for the team medical equipment, medical supplies and all other equipment within the project.
  • Account daily the use of the medical equipment ensuring that the minimum required is all the time available.
  • When necessary, report to the Medical Coordinator the state of medical equipment, requesting in advance the medical supplies required ensuring the availability of each item as per SOP.
  • Report to the Medical Coordinator on any deficiencies and medical logistical requirements in a timely fashion.

  • Make sure oxygen cylinders are fully charged and all drugs up to date.
  1. Mission 3: Provide medical assistance on the current ERW (Explosive Remnant of War) and mine clearance operations at HI designated sites
  • Ensure that HI Medical protocols are respected during the clearance operations.
  • At any time be prepared to assist with medical evacuation as necessary.
  • In case of accident prioritize all relevant lifesaving treatments that casualty requires to maintain life.
  • Under the direction of the medical coordinator, maintain appropriate medical staff records as per HI procedures.
  • Ensure that the medical evacuation plan for a clearance task is understood by all team members, maintained and updated as appropriate, in cooperation with the medical coordinator.
  • Responsible along with the Regional medical coordinator, for the coordination between HI and external medical facilities.
  • Check the evacuation road at least once a week to verify no roadwork’s or road closures that will impair the planned MEDEVAC on that road.
  • Any other duties as required by the Medical Coordinator.
  • Ensuring high standards of hygiene, clean accommodation areas/working areas, welfare of the staff and sustaining high performance medical preventative measures of all staff for the duration of the project.

 

  1. Mission 4: Ensure proper filing and reporting of operational data.
  • Assure the filing and archiving of everyday medical documents for its team.
  • Ensure the availability and the proper use of HI forms.
  • Ensure that loss and damage reports are filled out for lost or damaged equipment as necessary and report to the Medical Coordinator.

 

  1. Mission 5: Ensure the good use and maintenance of HI resources and a proper behaviour with colleagues in respect of internal regulations and log-admin procedures

Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements

  • Education: 

  • An Emergency Medicine certificate or a Nursing certificate with a minimum of two years’ experience as a paramedic. 

 

  • Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years professional experience as a paramedic, or in a similar role.

  • Previous experience with international or local NGO is desirable.

  • Previous work in Mine Action is desirable.



 

  • Professional & Personal skills required:

  • Proficient in trauma care, emergency medical procedures, and medication administration

  • Skilled in assessment and diagnosis during emergencies

  • Competent in medical equipment maintenance, supply tracking, and ambulance readiness

  • Ability to conduct BTLS training and participate in CASEVAC drills

  • Familiarity with HI medical protocols and evacuation planning

  • Strong data management and reporting skills

  • Effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities

  • High standards of hygiene, discipline, and professional ethics

  • Motivation for continuous learning and adaptability to field conditions

  • Coordination with internal teams and external medical facilities

  • Language proficiency: Excellent Arabic; English is an asset
