Logistics Officer will work under the supervision of the WoS Supply chain and Operations Manager, providing logistics support for RI’s NWS operations. This is a new program opening in and Syria programming complicated conflict settings requiring maximal flexibility, honest & transparency, patience with formalities, long hours, and creative thinking.

Transport, Travel & Fleet

  • Ensure management of vehicle fleets is in line with RI standards; ensure that appropriate allocation, safe use of vehicles is achieved throughout the program and ensure servicing, and maintenance schedules are adhered to.
  • Ensure transport services are cost efficient and reliable. Ensure the efficient coordination timely delivery of supplies to projects.
  • Ensure systems are in place to effectively plan, coordinate and monitor staff travel by road or air (national or international).
  • Daily coordination of Ris logistics activities.
  • Has a full understanding of RI fleet management policies.
  • Assist staff as needed on creating clear transportation plans and other documentations.
  • Collect log sheets from the drivers and prepare all drivers payments including overtime.
  • Prepare fuel reports for all cars movement on weekly basis.
  • Conduct regular and random check for RI hired vehicles to ensure they are safe for use.
  • Maintain the contracts for RI hired vehicles.
  • Maintain records and up to date files for all logistics duties.

  • Consistent with RI’s safeguarding and protection policies, ensure all people who come into contact with Relief International are as safe as possible

Essential criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar university degree.
  • Able to prioritize, communicate effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel and work extensively – sometimes at short notice, in difficult places and under long hours – according to a results-based approach
  • Able to work independently and within a team.
  • Diligent in work processes.
  • Flexible in schedule, attitude and work prioritization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google software, particularly Google Drive, Gmail, Google Docs, MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Fluency in English and Turkish; ability to also communicate in Arabic is a plus
