Duties, objectives and competencies
Team Leadership:
- Lead the Field Nutrition Team in consultation with the Nutrition Program Manager in order to distribute tasks in the field and ensure adherence to the daily work plan.
- Solve problems that arise in the field with the Nutrition Team.
- Lead the Nutrition Team in the field after coordinating with the Senior Nutrition Officer according to an alternating schedule between the members of the supervised team to ensure leadership support and quality control.
- Coordinate the logistic needs of activities in accordance with the implementation plan, such as team cars, distributing nutrition materials, delivering to communities’ items related to the activities, coordinating the set-up and transportation of nutrition activity tents, or any other program needs.
Technical tasks and coordination:
- Participate in community mobilization and training of community leaders and influential people, coordinate and present group sessions and community activities.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate the team's activities and facilitate their work during implementation.
- Actively participate in trainings on dietary diversity, measuring MUAC in households, health education practices, community health visits and referral mechanisms. This list is not exhaustive and may include additional training required.
- Participate in Monitoring and Evaluation activities to assess impact measurement when required (opinion polls, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, community organizing, etc.). And support the M&E team as needed.
- Periodically update the nutrition and health services maps necessary for the referral process, and the links with other services and referral mechanisms, and share them with the Program Management.
- Coordinate referrals daily from the Nutrition Team to treatment centers, health centers or the Safeguarding Team.
- Participate in the evaluation of referrals to the Food Security Program, whether internal referrals from Goal teams or external referrals from Goal's partners.
- Assist Nutrition Program Manager in evaluating the performance of the Nutrition Team and the quality of services provided. In addition to suggesting developments and suggesting new topics based on community and stakeholder feedback.
- Assist Nutrition Program Manager and Senior Nutrition Officer in developing key health messages in nutrition, reproductive health, hygiene, newborn care, etc. to the targeted beneficiaries, and making sure it is delivered appropriately.
- Assist Nutrition Program Manager and Senior Nutrition Officer in recognizing the evolving needs in the community, gaps in access to services, and trends among target populations relevant to program implementation.
- Assist in providing technical support to GOAL Nutrition Partners to ensure that their activities are in line with GOAL operations and requirements.
Reports:
- Ensure that all relevant information is collected for reporting purposes in a timely manner and that nutrition workers collect required and relevant data from fieldwork.
- Verify the validity of the documents submitted in the lists of beneficiaries of the project in coordination and follow-up with Nutrition Program Manager.
- Submit reports on completed tasks as requested by the supervisor.
- Record data on routine activities and health conditions and send them to the Senior Nutrition Officer
- Inform Senior Nutrition Officer of any proposed change or update or any related information.
Other:
- Network and represent to other agencies on GOAL’s nutrition related activities as directed.
- Ensure that policies and guidelines as laid down in GOAL manuals and policies are always adhered to.
- Ensure adherence to GOAL’s Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policy and standards of integrity, as well as uphold GOAL’s whistleblowing mechanisms.
