We are looking for a Project Manager who will help us and our partners run impactful projects in Syria. This individual will be instrumental in building networks on the ground, implementing meaningful campaigns and ensuring our efforts align with and respond to the evolving realities for communities across Syria. We want someone who is passionate about playing their part in our overall mission. You’ll be joining our 11-person Syrian and international team, engaging with trusted partners, working for an organisation with a track record of high-impact campaigns.

  • Lead the implementation of Syria-based projects, including:
    • Overall project management, developing and maintaining project plans, and coordinating timelines and resource allocation.
    • Ensuring timely delivery of activities and supporting partners to adapt plans to respond to external factors.
    • Leading reporting, monitoring, and evaluation of projects’ activities to ensure effectiveness and impact.
    • Managing relationships with programme partners, ensuring strong collaboration and alignment on objectives. Mentor partners with project design and implementation as needed.
    • Ensure compliance with donor grant terms and conditions for both The Syria Campaign and programme partners.
    • Support the cultivation and management of relationships with potential and existing partners, including donors, collaborators, and policymakers advocating for human rights and democracy in Syria.
    • Organise and coordinate events and activities in Syria, including advocacy opportunities aimed at influencing decision-makers and supporting the goals of programme partners.
    • Support the amplification of inspiring Syrian stories by working with the communications team to identify media opportunities, gather testimonies, and engage with journalists and media outlets.
  • Manage operational needs of The Syria Campaign’s work in Syria.
  • Support the monitoring and analysis of the political, social, and economic context in Syria to strengthen the organization’s impact and adaptability. Spot opportunities and challenges for the organisation based on local trends and developments.
  • Support the implementation of partner-led campaigns to elevate Syrian voices internationally—advocating for justice, accountability, inclusive political processes, civic space protection, and youth-led global advocacy.
  • Foster a collaborative, creative, and supportive team culture.

The core competencies which any successful candidate will display are:

  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Experience designing and implementing projects or campaigns at a community or national level.
  • Strong background in monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, particularly for donor-funded projects. Strong understanding of donor compliance requirements, especially from institutional donors.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in human rights, international development, advocacy, or related fields.
  • Experience working on Syria-related issues, or in-depth knowledge of Syria.
  • Demonstrated success in partnership-building with NGOs, civil society actors, donors, and policymakers.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English (spoken and written)
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-management skills, with the ability to navigate complex partnerships and collaborations.
  • Adaptability and resilience, particularly in rapidly shifting political and operational contexts.
