NRC Syria is now seeking Education Technical Officer to join the South/Central Area (Damascus).
The purpose of this position is to contribute specific technical education competencies to design, implement, and follow up with specific education technical competencies to design, implement, and assess Education emergency activities (Child and youth programming) that align with NRC’s Syria Country Office education strategy. This position will normally not entail management responsibility of staff. However, technical support to NRC field staff, including facilitators/trainers and implementing partners, on the day-to-day implementation of interventions is key.
The position holder will be line-managed by the Education Project Manager and will be expected to work in close collaboration with the Education Team Leaders and Officers. As all staff are currently field-based, coordination and communication will take place at the field level.

Generic responsibilities:
1. Ensure compliance with NRC policies, guidelines, and standards.
2. Ensure compliance with Education strategy, tools, handbooks, guidelines, and standards.
3. Education-specific technical responsibility for implementation of technical activities of Education and Youth project(s)
4. Education-specific technical responsibility for the quality control and monitoring of project activities
5. Provide specific technical support and capacity building for project staff.
6. Provide specific technical analysis and feedback to Education PM and relevant NRC representatives as needed
7. Assess, promote and document ideas for technical improvement and further program development options.
8. Provide technical support to education team to ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and assess new and better ways to assist!
9. Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.

Generic professional competencies for this position:
• Bachelor’s degree in education/Pedagogy or any relevant field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in an education technical role in a humanitarian/ recovery context.
• Experience from working within an education technical expertise area
• Core competency expertise
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
• Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal.
Context/specific skills, knowledge, and experience:
• Experience in training and building capacity.
• Experience in emergency response activities (desirable).
• knowledge of SCS governorates Syria is desirable Knowledge of INEE Minimum Standards (desirable).
• Experience in designing, developing, and presenting training programs.
• Extensive experience in teaching across grades, with a particular emphasis on special education classes.
• Knowledge of NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector is a plus.
• Strong documentation, research and report writing skills.
• Knowledge and relevant experience in child protection cases.

- Contract: Fixed-term Employment Contract until the end of December 2026, renewable based on the need, satisfactory performance, and availability of funding
