About People In Need – PIN
People in Need (PIN) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1992 in the Czech Republic. For over 30 years, PIN has delivered relief and development assistance in more than 40 countries worldwide. Since 2012, PIN has been operational in Syria, providing humanitarian and early recovery support to conflict-affected communities in NWS and NES. Under the Whole of Syria (WoS) structure, PIN implements integrated programs across Syria through coordinated field offices. PIN’s programs focus on Emergency Food Assistance, WASH, Education, Civic Participation and Empowerment, and Early Recovery and Livelihoods.
General Position summary:
The role can be described as information sharing and visibility. The position is line-managed by PIN Communications TL for Syria and works in close cooperation with PIN program teams.
· To write and collect stories, pictures and videos covering PIN’s activities and -occasionally- coordinating the support of external media service providers
· To support in creating reports for the donors and PIN management.
· To support internal communication addressing PIN teams with regular updates about communication outputs and media initiatives
· To support the preparation of case studies, flyers, leaflets, promo materials about PIN programmes and other visual communication that projects require
· To support the preparation and deliver inductions, trainings and presentations for PIN staff to build their capacity and awareness about PIN’s communications
· To support crisis communications under the supervision of the Communication TL for Syria.
· To ensure all Communications materials and visibility comply with PIN visibility guidelines
· To provide social media support on Syria through social media monitoring
· To create and maintain archive (stories + photos) according to agreed structure
· To support programmes in the production of visibility materials.
· To ensure field level application of both PIN and donor visibility standards.
· To act as focal point for media and journalists requests in the area
· To support the Communications TL in coordination between the Communications, Program and other departments for field visits and common work.
· To support in Translating the visibility materials in Arabic and English.
· Bachelor’s degree in communications, media, or a relevant field
· Fluency in Arabic is a condition for this position and fluency in English is a plus.
· Previous experience in Communications in an NGO
· Good writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to capture engaging content through various mediums.
· Experience in photography and videography is a plus
· Experience in graphic design and video editing is a big advantage
· Familiarity with the cultural and political landscape of Syria
· Previous media experience welcomed
