The Awareness Specialist - Protection will be responsible for conducting structured and unstructured counseling sessions to vulnerable beneficiaries. The Awareness Specialist will also refer cases from group counseling sessions to the case manager and conduct regular evaluations related to Pre-Post tests to monitor improvement in knowledge and skills. Additionally, the specialist will be responsible for providing specialized awareness sessions for the Child Protection Program.
- Implementing of structured awareness sessions and unstructured PSS activities.
- Implementing of PSS/GBV awareness sessions.
- Implementing specialized awareness sessions for child protection, including topics related to personal safety, violence, and exploitation.
- Preparing and implementing awareness activities targeting children to teach them how to identify dangerous situations and how to act when they occur.
- Coordinating with institutions and schools to deliver awareness and protection sessions for children in educational settings.
- Contributing to the preparation and implementation of community awareness campaigns on child protection.
- Developing educational and awareness materials directed at children and parents on children's rights and protection measures.
- Conducting open days and campaigns related to psychological wellbeing.
- Monitoring psychological wellbeing knowledge improvement through Pre-Post tests and surveys.
- Conducting FGDs with targeted vulnerable beneficiaries to assess general protection needs.
- Identifying and referring cases to case managers.
- Working with communities to identify and address their PSS needs.
- Providing psychological support to children who have experienced traumatic events and working to improve their psychological wellbeing.
- Researching topics related to international open days and campaigns.
- Coordinating with other PSS staff and stakeholders to ensure that PSS services are accessible and inclusive.
- Designing and preparing materials on PSS to be utilized during activity implementation.
- Providing technical support to PSS field staff when required.
- Ensuring protection mainstreaming policies are followed and implemented
- Conducting periodic evaluations of the effectiveness of awareness sessions and reporting on them.
- Organizing workshops for parents on how to protect their children and enhance safety at home and in the community.
- Promoting PSEA policies "Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse" among targeted beneficiaries.
- Preparing and delivering weekly/monthly reports to the Protection Team Supervisor when needed.
- Contributing positively in the work environment.
- All other volunteering tasks might be required to improve the working process.
Essentials
- Bachelor's Degree in Counseling Psychology, Psychology or relevant field is a minimum requirement.
- Previous experience in conducting group sessions with all ages.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Commitment in helping others and good judgment.
Desirable
- Previous experience with non-profit organizations.
- Ability to work under pressure and to respect deadlines.
- Time Management skills.
- Commitment to the vision, mission, values, principles, and aims of GOPA-DERD.
- Flexibility and ability to easily adapt to changing needs in a fast-paced work environment.
