Mari Research & Development (MRD) is recruiting a Projects Coordinator (multi-project) to manage and supervise several project components from MRD’s Damascus office. The role requires strong program and people management skills, demonstrated experience in protection/MHPSS/legal/livelihoods programming, and frequent field travel to Deir ez-Zor and Latakia.
Position Purpose
The Projects Coordinator will oversee day-to-day management, technical quality, staff supervision and donor compliance for multiple CPS project components implemented across several governorates. The postholder will be based in Damascus, will ensure efficient coordination between field sites and HQ, and will travel regularly to Deir ez-Zor and Latakia to supervise activities, conduct monitoring and strengthen local partnerships.
- Multi-project Management
- Lead operational delivery of multiple project components, ensuring outputs are delivered on time, to quality standards and within approved budgets.
- Maintain consolidated project workplans, activity timelines, and risk registers; adapt plans based on monitoring data and security context.
- Field Supervision & Travel
- Conduct regular field visits to Deir ez-Zor, Latakia and other sites to supervise implementation, quality assurance, and staff coaching.
- Ensure field teams adhere to MRD standard operating procedures (SOPs), safeguarding, and protection protocols.
- Team Leadership
- Line-manage project field staff (Project Assistants, Mobilizers, PSS/MHPSS facilitators, legal assistants and others) and provide regular performance feedback, on-the-job training and capacity building.
- Donor Compliance & Reporting
- Coordinate preparation of donor narrative inputs and support Finance/Grants on financial reporting; ensure visibility and contractual compliance with CDCS requirements.
- Ensure vetting and beneficiary selection follow donor and organizational policies (including sanctions/watchlists screening).
- MEAL & Quality Assurance
- Work with MEAL Coordinator to ensure robust monitoring, timely data collection, case management safeguards, and beneficiary feedback mechanisms (CFM).
- Procurement & Budget Oversight
- Oversee activity-level budgets, ensure procurement complies with MRD procedures and value-for-money principles.
- Coordination & Representation
- Represent MRD in relevant coordination fora, maintain referral pathways with partners, and liaise with local authorities/stakeholders.
- Security & Safeguarding
- Maintain situational awareness, implement staff security measures during travel and field work, and ensure safeguarding/PSEA measures are in place.
- University degree in Social Sciences, Development, International Relations, Law or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing humanitarian/development projects in Syria or comparable contexts; at least 2 years in a coordinating/senior role.
- Demonstrable experience across protection, legal aid, MHPSS, or livelihoods programming.
- Proven ability to manage multiple parallel activities and supervise dispersed field teams.
- Experience with donor reporting and compliance .
- Fluent in Arabic and strong written and spoken English.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently and overnight to Deir ez-Zor, Latakia and other project sites.
