Under the Line Management of HAS Supervisor, the guard ensures the security of property and persons on the site(s) under his or her responsibility. He or she is responsible for controlling entries to the site(s), informing and guiding visitors (entry/exit management including people and vehicles). He/she is the point person to HAS Supervisor as such informs him or her of any problems that fall within his or her remit and suggests solutions. He/she contributes to the implementation of HI’s Security standards.

 

  1. Mission 1: Participates in the physical security management of the facility and implements the facility management action planWritten translation of documents from Arabic into English and vice versa.
  • RISKS: Forwards to his/her line-manager the information needed to update the risk map for his or her area of responsibility and suggests and implements corrective mitigation measures;
  • INCIDENTS: Reports to his/her line manager any anomalies or incidents encountered in his area of responsibility;
  • INDICATORS: Forwards to his/her line-manager the information needed to produce the dashboard for the security of the property and staff on the site(s) under his/her responsibility.

            

  1. Mission 2: Deploys HI’s standards and contributes to it expertise and accountability within his or her remit:
  • STANDARDS:
  • Applies HI standards for his or her entire professional field with regard to HI policy, processes and tools;
  • Be polite and courteous at all times; as guard of HI, He is the first representative of HI.
  • LOCAL ADAPTATION: applies these standards contextualized to meet local conditions and regulations;
  • ACCOUNTABILITY: applies internal HI Security and administrative rules in his or her fields of activity.

     
  1. Mission 3: Operational implementation of Security
  • Ensures the security of the property and persons on the site(s) under his/her responsibility;
  • Complies with the legislation in application and ensures compliance by occupants/visitors;
  • Alerts his/her line manager in the event of an infringement of regulations by a member of staff (visitor; national or international staff) in accordance with established procedure;
  • Alerts the occupants of the site under his responsibility and his/her line manager in case of immediate danger according to established procedure.
  • Keep up to date on the security situation in the local area of Hama Base premises and the region in which it is located and transmits this information to his line manager.
  • Aware of the access control policies at entrances/exits, ensure that all entrances/exits, doors and windows are locked after working hours.
  • Receives mail deliveries, checks for suspicious content and passes them to the HI recipient.
  • Ensure that Hama Base premises are free weapon areas and ask with politeness and courtesy any visitors have weapons to leave his weapons at the entrance.
  • Attends the site of guard on time and does not leave his place of duty until his tour of duty end and the next duty guard come. Never leave his post unattended.
  • Ensure that security equipment is functional at all times; report any damage to his line manager.
  • conduct fire safety inspections as directed by his line manager.
  • Ensures the Safety and Security of the premises before opening the door/gate in the morning.

     
  1. Mission 4: Facilitation of the profession sector
  • Participates in the facilitation of the organization’s professional activities in Hama base. 

 

  1. Mission 5: Emergency Preparedness and Response Responsibilities

contributes to the program's emergency preparedness actions and, during an emergency, adapts his/her work modality to contribute to HI’s effective humanitarian response

Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements

  • Education: 

  •  Minimum requirement: Secondary school certificate

 

  • Professional Experience:

  • 1 years of experience in a similar position within a non-governmental organization (NGO)
  • English Skills oral and written would be as an asset.

 

  • Professional & Personal skills required:

  • Strong understanding of the local security context and risk awareness
  • Experience in facility protection protocols and visitor monitoring
  • Ability to detect, report, and respond to suspicious activities
  • Familiarity with humanitarian principles, particularly neutrality and safety
  • Basic maintenance support (generators, water pumps, lighting systems)
  • Handling secure deliveries and enforcing access control policies
  • Ability to follow organizational safety rules and emergency procedures
  • Experience coordinating with direct supervisors and logistics for daily tasks
  • High sense of responsibility, honesty, and transparency
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage stress effectively
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving capabilities
  • Emotional intelligence and respectful conflict resolution
  • Professional appearance and courteous behavior at all times
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and adhere to strict deadlines

  • The position is based inthe duty station is not defined yet, but could be Hama or Idlib.

  • Basic salary for the position: according to HI salary scale.
