The Field Assistant will provide on-site support for shelter rehabilitation, workshop activities, and other field projects, ensuring accurate implementation in line with technical standards and project objectives. The role involves frequent field visits, monitoring work progress, verifying compliance with specifications, and preparing documentation and technical reports.
Conducting regular field visits to monitor work progress and workshop activities, ensuring adherence to technical specifications.
Assisting in supervising construction/rehabilitation work and report to the engineering supervisor.
Supporting the preparation of field reports, Bills of Quantities (BoQs), and basic technical documentation.
Verifying project materials, work quality, and contractor performance at project sites according to the project time schedule.
Documenting progress through photos, measurements, and written reports for accountability.
Liaising with beneficiaries and contractors to address on-site challenges.
Maintaining organized records of site activities, material deliveries, and compliance checks.
Assisting in data collection for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
All other volunteering tasks might be required to improve the working process.
Essentials
Technical Institute certificate is a minimum requirement. Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is a plus.
Fieldwork experience is highly preferred (shelter, construction, or rehabilitation projects).
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
Ability to travel to project sites as needed
Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Good command in English.
Desirable
Previous experience with non-profit organizations would be a plus.
Ability to work under pressure and to respect deadlines.
Flexibility and the ability to easily adapt to changing needs in a fast-paced work environment.
Familiarity with shelter/construction standards and safety protocols.
Commitment to the vision, mission, values, principles, and aims of GOPA-DERD.
