Job description
Job Purpose
PSS Facilitator will be responsible for providing PSS activities for children, preparing PSS materials suitable for the targeted age group and implementing awareness sessions, carry out focused psychosocial support activities with children at MLCs. provide PSS programming for children as well as provide protection services for the surrounding community.
Protection PSS worker will be responsible for ensuring the children are receiving services in a safe environment, have regular attendance and their psychosocial wellbeing is prioritized.
1. Prepare and Deliver PSS sessions, prepare PSS materials and visual aids suitable for the targeted age group
2. Conduct recreational activities with children and adults such as sports activities, arts and crafts, drama etc.
3. Facilitate the participation of all segments of the target population in the planned activities ensuring the inclusion of the most vulnerable groups;
4. Monitor beneficiaries’ progress during psychosocial support activities and identify persons with unusual changes in behavior or other signs of psychosocial distress for referral to a Case Worker or Psychologist;
5. Ensure the use of good facilitation skills that make the children feel comfortable and enhance their participation and personal development
6. Ensure that children are not exposed to any form of harm or stress during the activity and that they feel safe and respected
7. Positively interact with children and encourage them to express their needs and ensure their safety
8. Ensure participation of children in the focused program in a non-discriminatory as well as age and gender sensitive and appropriate approach
9. Follow up on the students’ wellbeing, their attendance and their specific needs
10. Report on the number of students, achievements, the supplies needed and new registration requests
11. Make sure the centre is providing a creative safe environment by monitoring the PSS sessions and highlighting the existing gaps
12. Facilitate seminars for parents and caregivers
13. Refer children and families to Concern’s Protection Team when necessary
14. Carry out all tasks respecting key protection principles including but not limited to: do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality and accountability
15. Conduct focus group discussions and other participatory activities to engage community members in protection activities and to better understand their needs and interests;
16. Participate in meetings and trainings in and outside the school when requested;
17. Any other additional tasks assigned by Supervisor

Note: the above-mentioned key responsibilities / accountabilities are illustrative ones. Another future responsibility/accountability may be assigned to the job depending on the department organizational chart.
A. Essential:
1. At least a university degree or university student in education, psychology and child development, or a major closely related to the required work.
2. One year work experience in education or protection programs.
3. Or a high school diploma and at least one year of experience in protection
B. Desirable:
1. have knowledge of basic and additional training such as psychosocial support, child labour, child maintenance, child recruitment, management of child friendly spaces…etc.
2. Work on child protection programs with local or international organizations 1 year at least.
3. previously underwent basic child protection training (minimum standards for child protection- case management).
4. previously provided basic child protection training (mainly minimum standards for child protection).
5. has the ability to travel withstand the stress of work and constant communication.
