Type of contract: National contract based on Syrian labour law
Type of employment: Fulltime

  • Design capacity building strategies and activities tailored to the unique needs and challenges of media organisations in Syria
  • Oversee organisational capacity development in media literacy and countering disinformation to local independent media and others, including developing and delivering training as needed
  • Design, develop and manage activities related to promoting media literacy and addressing disinformation that are credible, accurate, and reliable for Syrian citizens
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key media stakeholders and government officials at the national and local level, other donors and implementers, programme beneficiaries, and other stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local partner organisations, overseeing technical activities and providing coaching to ensure a focus on relevant activities and achieving outcomes
  • Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and learning, project communications, and project reporting
  • Develop documentations, manuals, reports, and guidelines related to the implementation of projects
  • University degree in journalism, media or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position (media, reporting, countering disinformation) with an international or national organisation or institution
  • Highly organised and detail oriented, with strong ability to multitask and deliver quality work under pressure and on time
  • Ability to keep track of and reconcile multiple data sources with minimum error
  • Highly collaborative, team player and experienced in working in multi-cultural organisations and in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable with confidential information and materials
  • Ability to work in an international multicultural team with loyalty, reliability and tolerance
  • High motivation and ability to work independently and meet deadlines without compromising the quality of output
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic, knowledge of German is an asset
