As the Syrian crisis has entered its 14th year, a record-level 16.7 million people, over 71% of the population, is in need of humanitarian assistance. Almost half are children. The fall of the former government, in December 2024, has sparked hope for the country’s future and those in need of aid. However, ongoing conflict, economic collapse and record-high humanitarian needs persist throughout the country, coinciding with unprecedented cuts to humanitarian aid globally at a time where aid resources for Syria were already stretched thin.
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has been a leading humanitarian actor in the response to the Syria crisis, in Syria and across the region, since 2012. Against a backdrop of conflict, socioeconomic and environmental deterioration, climate change and natural disasters, we provide emergency, transitional, early recovery and resilience programmes to people in need. We lead advocacy to promote unimpeded and sustained access to assistance for people across Syria and we call for increased humanitarian funding, resilience and early recovery support to alleviate the hardships of the Syrian people.
What we are Looking for?
The CFM Technical Assistant will supports the CFM Coordinator in setting up CFM system and tools and ensuring the systems are implemented effectively, feedbacks are processed and dealt with according to the SOPs and are used for learning and quality programming. This is achieved through operation and improvement of a centralised Community Feedback Mechanism. Moreover, the CFM Technical Assistant will play a key role in capacity building on accountability principles across the country programme.
- Receive communication from beneficiaries on NRC feedback channels; logging and entering data in the database, acting and following up on each case according to the SOPs.
- Contribute to building awareness on the knowledge of the CFM with programme and support teams in the country office and area offices, as well as among partner organizations.
- Support the development of awareness-raising materials on the CFM for distribution among beneficiaries and target groups.
- Contribute to raising the awareness on the complaint mechanisms in place among beneficiaries and target communities, as well as key external stakeholders.
- Contribute to triangulation of the monitoring evidence through documenting and reporting feedback received through CFM.
- Contribute to assessing the preferred feedback channels among beneficiaries, in an effort to ensure that NRC CFM channels are relevant and trusted among the community.
- Monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of the CFM, the level of satisfaction of users, and other aspects according to the SOP.
- Conduct the mapping of the services available within the geographical area of responsibility, both internally and externally.
- Maintain and improve CFM database, tracker, and other tools.
- Prepare periodic analyses and reports (according to the SOP).
- Organize and participate in monthly meetings with Core Competency staff and other units.

- University Degree.
- At least 1 year of experience from working directly with affected/local communities within an international or local organization in a humanitarian/recovery context this is including MEAL, data entry.
- Experience in protection and case management is a plus.
- At least 1 year of experience working in complex and volatile contexts.
- At least 1 year of experience handling complaints
- Good knowledge and understanding of humanitarian standards, and principals of accountability to affected populations.
