NRC Syria is now seeking a WASH and Shelter Officer to join the South/Central Area (Homs).
The purpose of this position is to support the day-to-day implementation of the Shelter & WASH projects delivered by NRC in Syria. The position-holder will be duty-stationed in the South-Central Area Office, but will be expected to travel to any other Syrian Governorate. Projects in this area are delivered through [direct implementation / remotely managed NRC staff / remotely managed partners].

Generic responsibilities:
1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
2. Implement delegated Shelter/Wash project portfolio according to plan of action
3. Day to day follow of progress in project implementation
4. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
5. Ensure proper filing of documents
6. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and assess new and better ways to assist
7. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
8. Ensure representation of NRC with external stakeholders as per the role requirements
9. Any other tasks as assigned by the line manager
10. Ensure NRC’s related activities are implemented in accordance with NRC Safe and Inclusive Programming (SIP) guidelines, policies and Syria-specific explanatory notes.
11. Report any breaches/concerns, in a confidential manner, through NRC SCO reporting channels.
12. Promote and secure a safe working environment for reporting concerns/breaches, and that all cases reported are processed in a confidential and sensitive manner.

Generic professional competencies:
• Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of (5) years of working experience in implementing and supervising Shelter and WASH projects (Eg: Schools, Bakeries, Markets, Houses, Boreholes, Water Systems, Sewer networks and solar systems for infrastructure projects, leading HKs & NFIs distribution).
• Educational degree must be an Engineering or equivalent experience required for the position.
Context related skills, knowledge and experience:
• Experience in working in complex and volatile contexts.
• Fluency in Arabic, both written and verbal.
• Good level in English both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills & MS Office software in addition to CAD software (knowledge in other essential Engineering & Planning software is a plus).
• Knowledge of the context in Syria.
• Experience with remotely managed programming is a plus.

- Contract: Fixed-term Employment Contract until the end of December 2026, renewable based on the need, satisfactory performance, and availability of funding
