• Service Agreement for 1 month, renewable.
Main objectives • Providing psychological support to patients according to MSF principles, standards and procedures in
order to improve the patients’ mental health.
Main responsibilities
and tasks
Accountabilities
• Carrying out evaluation of mental health needs of patients and establishing a diagnosis and a plan of
treatment. Informing the patient and his/her relatives about the possible consequences of the illness and
the drug treatment to follow and referring patients to other health professionals whenever necessary, in
order to provide the most appropriate treatment and improve the patient's condition
• Implementing the Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) protocol, identifying possible victims of SGBV
and referring them to the medical team so that they receive the necessary treatment.
• Providing psychological support and psychotherapy sessions (individual, family, group) to patients
according to MSF protocols in order to improve their mental health conditions
• Assisting and training staff members and resourceful people whenever necessary in order to enhance the
scope of MH activities. Working in close collaboration with translators in order to ensure appropriate
terminology and behavior during sessions
• Collecting statistical and monitoring data about mental health activities
• Informing the supervisor and the medical team about any issues or problems that may arise related to
patients’ treatment in order to provide the best possible solution from a medical perspective
• Ensuring that all patient information is kept confidential.
Context Specific Accountabilities
The mental health and psychosocial support activities in Daraa project will be provided in MSF
supported facilities in Daraa Governorat such as Nawa National Hospital , PHCC Tasil and other
locations will be determinated later, in all MSF supported facilities. The psychologist will be responsible
to perform the following MHPSS activities based on MSF guidelines and protocols in the above
mentioned locations.
• Conduct psychological assessments/ Evaluations and diagnose common mental health disorders.
• Providing psychological support to patients from mild to severe symptoms according to MSF protocols in
order to improve their mental health conditions. Vac#2026085
• Participate and contribute on regular MhGAP consultation for patients with sever mental health disorders
in collaboration with MhGAP Doctors and the Psychatrist.
• Continuously collaborate with counselors, MH gap doctors, psychiatrists, social workers and other medical
staff to ensure comprehensive, and multidisciplinary care for beneficiaries.
• Provide appointment to patients/benefciaries for first and follow-up sessions and trace the patient in case
of no-show or lost to follow-up.
• Provide individual and group general psychoeducation and awareness sessions.
• Provide PSS level II and III group sessions and other non-psychotherapeutic group sessions including
specefic interventions for children and adults to improve the well-being of the target population.
• Take part in the development of mental health awareness materials on different topics.
• Ensure patient files and other materials are safely archived according to MSF Data Protection Guidelines
to preserve confidentiality.
• Provide mental health and psychosocial support trainings to MHPSS and medical teams in the project
area.
• Participate and contribute in regular case discussions/supervisions.
• Prepare and maintain reporting (patient) files for each session/activity and to update the same on time.
• Preparing and submitting MHPSS related periodic reports in weekly and monthly basis.

according to MSF operational guidance
Requirements for the position
Education: • Essential Degree or Diploma in Psychology (clinical psychology).
Experience:
• Essential 2 years’ minimum experience as a clinical psychologist
• Desirable previous experience in psychiatric hospitals and health facilities as a clinical psychologist
with direct patient care.
Languages: • Excellent proficiency in Arabic at native level
• Good knowledge of English, both written and spoken.
Others: • Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet).
