About SYCAC: SYCAC is a non-governmental, non-profit civil society organization founded in Turkey in 2012. It aims to increase civic spaces to play an active role in peace processes and early recovery of communities by empowering, protecting and building community capacities, as well as enhancing the leadership role of women and marginalized groups, to achieve societies that embrace the principle of democracy and human rights.
Objective:
To collect high-quality qualitative and quantitative data to support the Gender and Protection Analysis in the targeted governorates. The data collectors will conduct household surveys, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and direct observations as per the developed tools.
Training & Preparation
- Attend the full data collection training, including ethics, gender sensitivity, and tool application.
- Participate in the piloting and feedback sessions for the tools.
- Understand and apply informed consent protocols before any data collection.
o Data Collection Activities
Conduct household surveys (paper or digital) in line with daily targets.
Facilitate or assist in focus group discussions and key informant interviews.
Conduct direct observation sessions and document findings clearly.
Ensure gender-sensitive approaches and create safe spaces for respondents.
o Data Quality & Documentation
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of collected data.
- Report daily to the supervisor on progress and challenges.
- Submit filled tools/forms according to agreed timelines and protocols.
- Follow confidentiality and data protection procedures strictly.
o Ethical Compliance
- Uphold ACF's safeguarding principles and Code of Conduct.
- Report any incident or concern related to participant well-being or data misuse.
o
Prior experience in data collection, preferably in humanitarian or protection-related assessments.
- Familiarity with the local context and ability to access and navigate the assigned communities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity in working with vulnerable groups.
- Basic understanding of protection, gender, and ethical principles in research.
- Fluency in Arabic (Kurdish or local dialects a plus depending on area).
Preferred Skills:
Experience using tablets or digital data collection tools (e.g., Kobo, ODK).
Ability to travel across assigned areas without restrictions.
Team spirit and ability to work under supervision.
