The Project Coordinator will oversee the planning, implementation, monitoring, and coordination of ERL activities focusing on social cohesion, peacebuilding, governance, and WASH in project locations. The coordinator will ensure alignment with donor requirements, organizational standards, and the socio-political realities on the ground, facilitating smooth collaboration between local authorities, CBOs, and communities to maximize impact and sustainability.
1. Project Oversight and Coordination
· Lead and supervise the implementation of ERL activities including social cohesion, peacebuilding, governance, and WASH interventions.
· Coordinate closely with local councils, community leaders, CBOs, and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective participation and ownership.
· Monitor project progress against workplans, budgets, and indicators, and report regularly to the program management team.
· Facilitate coordination meetings and multi-stakeholder forums to promote dialogue and conflict-sensitive programming.
2. Community Engagement and Capacity Building
· Support the strengthening of local governance structures and community groups through training, coaching, and technical assistance.
· Promote inclusive participation of women, youth, and marginalized groups in decision-making and project activities.
· Enhance local capacities in social cohesion and peacebuilding principles tailored to the Syrian context.
3. Monitoring, Reporting, and Compliance
· Ensure quality and timely data collection, monitoring, and reporting in line with organizational MEAL frameworks.
· Identify and mitigate risks related to security, protection, and social tensions.
· Maintain accurate documentation of project activities, stakeholder engagement, and lessons learned.
4. Representation and Liaison
· Serve as the main liaison between the project team, local authorities, community actors, and external partners
· Represent the organization in coordination platforms, cluster meetings, and community forums relevant to the ERL sector.
· Advocate for community needs and ensure alignment of project interventions with local priorities and policies.
· Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Development Studies, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field.
· Minimum 5 years of professional experience in community development, social cohesion, governance, or humanitarian programming in Syria.
· Demonstrated experience working with local authorities, community-based organizations, and community-led initiatives.
· Strong knowledge of Syrian local governance structures, social dynamics, and conflict sensitivity principles.
· Experience managing multi-sectoral projects involving ERL, WASH, peacebuilding, and governance is highly desirable.

· Ability to work independently and under pressure in complex and sensitive environments.
· Proficiency in Arabic (written and spoken); knowledge of English is an advantage.

· The duty station is Damascus with frequent field visits to project sites in Rural Damascus, Homs and Hama.
