The Assistant Safety Advisor (ASA) supports the Safety Advisor in delivering timely, accurate, and relevant safety and security analysis to humanitarian partners operating in North-West Syria. The role focuses on incident tracking, contextual monitoring, reporting support, field assessments, and coordination with stakeholders to ensure high-quality information products and service delivery.

Analysis & Reporting Support

  • Support the Safety Advisor in drafting security alerts, incident reports, area assessments, and other INSO analytical products.
  • Monitor and track security and contextual developments in Aleppo, Hama, Idleb, Tartous, and Lattakia governorates.
  • Immediately inform the Safety Advisor of critical incidents or emerging threats.
  • Contribute contextual updates and analytical inputs relevant to NGO operations.
  • Assist in preparing charts, data visualizations, and summaries to support reporting outputs.
  • Support the daily production and timely dissemination of information products (e.g., Morning Briefs).

Field Assessments & Representation

  • Conduct field assessment missions as delegated, engaging with relevant stakeholders and authorities.
  • Produce structured mission reports following field visits.
  • Attend coordination meetings, roundtables, and briefings as delegated by the Safety Advisor.
  • Maintain and expand a network of NGO and humanitarian contacts relevant to INSO’s work.
  • Brief the Safety Advisor on any bilateral meetings conducted in an official capacity.

CHDC & Information Management

  • Collect, verify, and document safety and security incidents affecting NGO operations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of incidents into CHDC.
  • Support quality control of incident data and verify entries submitted by team members when required.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date information records.
  • Contribute to strengthening information collection capacity in the region.
  • 2+ years of relevant professional experience in security analysis,
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required).
  • Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in drafting well-structured, precise, and professional documents in English.
  • Solid in humanitarian coordination or information management,
  • Strong Arabic and English language skills (spoken and written).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Security Studies, or a related field.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working in North-West Syria is preferred.
  • Experience with databases or incident tracking systems preferred.

Terms & Conditions:

12-month renewable fixed-term contract, $2,370 monthly basic salary, 1.75 working days annual leave per month, private health insurance coverage, or allowance.
