NRC Syria is now seeking an Education Team Leader to join the South/Central Area (Damascus).

The purpose of this position is to work in collaboration with the Education Project Manager to lead the overall day-to-day implementation of Education activities implemented by NRC Syria. The position holder will be responsible for managing delegated NRC education staff and supporting the successful delivery of project activities in areas of implementation in Syria.

Generic responsibilities:

1. Ensure compliance with NRC policies, guidelines and standards
2. Ensure compliance with Education strategy, tools, handbooks, guidelines and standards
3. Implement delegated portfolio of Education projects Day-to day (activities, budget and project documentation) as delegated from line manager in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements, and ensure high technical quality
4. Provide regular progress reports to line manager (APM if no PM)
5. Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
6. Ensure quality control measures and tools are utilised and regularly implemented and updated, including monitoring of project activities
7. Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills 
8. Assess, promote and document ideas for technical improvement and further program development options
9. Ensure that projects target participants most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
10. Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy

Generic professional competencies for this position: 

· Bachelor's degree in education / psychology / Social Science or relevant humanitarian degree.
· Minimum 2 years of experience from working within technical expertise area in a humanitarian/ recovery context, including but not limited to the fields of Education, Children, Youth, or Child Protection.
· Experience of working in complex and volatile contexts.
· Technical Education and Emergency Response expertise.
· Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
· Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal.


Context related skills, knowledge and experience: 

· Technical Education and Emergency Response expertise.
· Proven experience in implementing non-formal education
· Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile.

We can offer

- Duty station: SCS Damascus - Syria
- Contract: Fixed-term Employment Contract until the end of 2026, renewable based on the need, satisfactory performance,  and availability of funding
- Salary/benefits: Grade 6 of NRC's salary scale (NRC Gradeprofile)
