Social Development International SDI is a non-profit NGO established in 2015 and daily registered in Turkey, which provides humanitarian assistance to affected people in Syria.
SDI services cover northern Syria through its programs, SNFIs, Health, Nutrition, Education, WASH, Protection, FSL, and CCCM.
General Description of Unit
The Supply Chain Department is the department responsible for supervising and managing the purchasing operations of all logistical operations, including transportation, distribution, warehousing, and fleet Purpose of Position
To coordinate and implement supply chain activities ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods and services to support SDI's programs.
This includes managing procurement, warehousing, transportation, and ensuring compliance with SDI and donor policies.
Communication and coordination structure of the position
Reports directly to the Operations Director and coordinates with the General Coordinator on security-related matters.
Works closely with program, finance, and logistics teams, and liaises with suppliers and logistics partners to ensure smooth operations.
He/She will be responsible for, but not limited to:
1- Procurement & Supply Chain Management
Develop and manage the procurement plan to ensure timely delivery of goods and services while staying within budget.
Build and maintain a reliable supplier database for medical and non-medical items, ensuring competitive pricing and quality standards.
Ensure all procurement follows SDI and donor policies, including fair tender processes, proper documentation, and fraud prevention.
Track deliveries, address delays, and oversee storage and stock management to prevent shortages or wastage.
2- Logistics & Fleet Coordination
Manage vehicle maintenance, fuel usage, and driver schedules to keep operations running smoothly and safely.
Supervise warehouse activities, including inventory tracking, proper storage conditions, and regular audits.
Organize the transportation of supplies, both within Syria and across borders, handling customs clearance and legal requirements.
Security & Risk Management
Work with the General Coordinator to update security plans, emergency protocols, and risk reduction strategies.
Assess security threats, brief staff on safety measures, and monitor compliance with guidelines.
Report and respond to security incidents to minimize risks to staff and operations.
4- Team Leadership & Capacity Building
Hire, train, and oversee logistics staff, including warehouse teams and field officers.
Provide training on procurement, inventory systems, and safety procedures to improve team performance.
Collaborate with program teams to ensure logistics support meets project needs.
5- Reporting & Compliance
Prepare monthly reports on procurement, inventory, fleet status, and security incidents.
Assist in donor reporting by providing accurate logistics data and compliance records.
Conduct internal supply chain audits and implement improvements where needed.
6- Additional Duties
• Handle administrative tasks as assigned by the Team Leader.
Attend coordination meetings with partners and clusters to represent SDI's logistics and security interests.
Work experience of not less than 5 years in the Supply Chain field.
At least two years of experience in NGOs.
University degree in a related field from an accredited academic institution.
Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
Skills and Abilities (behavioral, interpersonal, and personal skills)
