To ensure the proper and efficient operation of medical
endoscopy equipment through the implementation of
regular maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, and
technical supervision in accordance with approved safety
and performance standards, the Syrian American Medical
Society (SAMS) is seeking a qualified Biomedical Engineer
to join its team in Syria.
The selected candidate will undergo specialized training in
the maintenance and repair of endoscopy devices, as well
as in the implementation of sterilization and processing
protocols. They will also serve as a national reference point
for receiving endoscopy devices from various SAMS-
affiliated centers. Additionally, the candidate will conduct
regular field visits to medical centers to monitor the
application of sterilization and processing protocols and to
ensure compliance with the highest standards.
1. Maintenance of all types of endoscopy equipment.
2. Performing preventive maintenance according to
the scheduled timelines (every 3 to 6 months) for
endoscopy devices at SAMS-affiliated centers.
3. Accurately diagnosing technical and electronic
malfunctions in the equipment and proposing
appropriate solutions.
4. Coordinating with suppliers or manufacturers for
spare parts or technical support.
5. Calibrating equipment and ensuring compliance
with medical quality and safety standards.
6. Documenting all maintenance and repair
operations in the approved records.
7. Training users (doctors, technicians) on the optimal
and proper use of the devices.
8. Monitoring the consumption of spare parts and
submitting regular reports on needs.
9. Providing technical support during procedures that
require the use of endoscopy equipment.
10. Participating in the evaluation of new devices or
recommending upgrades to existing equipment.
11. Submitting monthly reports that include the
status of equipment in the centers, challenges and
proposed solutions, and identified needs.
1. Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or a
related field.
2. A minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on experience in
endoscopy equipment maintenance.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of various types and
technologies of endoscopy devices.
4. Strong skills in troubleshooting and using
diagnostic and testing tools.
5. Good understanding of medical quality and safety
management systems.
6. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to
document and follow up effectively.
7. Ability to work independently and handle sensitive
medical equipment with precision and care.
8. Good communication skills and ability to work as
part of a team.
9. Technical skills: Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
10. Languages: Native Arabic speaker, intermediate
level of English.
